Introducing a lighter approach
SLT11.
An 11-inch tablet designed around one uncompromising question: how light can it be?
We are developing a deliberately minimal Android tablet: keep what matters, remove what doesn't, and make the hardware practical to maintain.
Product direction
SLT11 · 2027 conceptHow SLT11 is being designed
Engineering prioritiesScreen first. Everything else second.
An approximately 11-inch display is central to the product. The display stack—including panel, backlight, touch layer, cover material, mounting and electronics—is being evaluated as a complete system to reduce mass without sacrificing practical everyday usability.
Familiar Android apps.
The intention is a conventional Android tablet experience, including normal compatible tablet applications. Apps requiring hardware that SLT11 deliberately omits—for example a camera or built-in audio output—may have limited functionality. The Android implementation and software support arrangements are not yet finalized.
A battery that comes out.
A flush-mounted, elongated removable battery is part of the current design direction. It should be easy to remove and reinstall repeatedly, without protruding from the back of the tablet.
- Standalone power-bank functionality planned
- Battery-status button with five LED indicators planned
- External USB-C power / charging under evaluation
- Battery USB-C access while installed is a possible later-generation feature, not a 2027 commitment
Deliberately fewer components.
SLT11 is not trying to duplicate every feature of a conventional tablet. The first version is planned without cameras or built-in speakers. A microSD card slot remains part of the product requirements. Wireless charging is not planned for the 2027 version.
Weight is a design constraint.
The enclosure, display assembly, structural supports, fasteners, battery and internal electronics are being considered together. A very low total mass is the goal, but no final weight, thickness or physical dimensions have been confirmed. Practical strength and durability remain necessary.
Built with the end in mind.
Replaceable parts, repair access, material selection and separation at end of life are important design criteria. Recyclability will be prioritized where technically and commercially sensible, while avoiding unnecessary complexity and cost.
What is still open?
To be validated with engineering partnersLess hardware. More freedom.
Super Light Tech is exploring what happens when low weight becomes the starting point of product engineering, rather than an afterthought.
